I obtained the email address of all interested parties in the region and formed information and notification system to keep everyone informed of current legislation. All of the pending legislation that was supportive of hunting and sportsmen positions was distributed. There were letters and telephone and emails sent to the governor and legislators in support of our issues.
Personal visits were made to several clubs to support and explain some of the issues during the year.
I attended five meetings of the Tehama County Department of Fish and Game Commissioners
Issues discussed were:
1. The problem of feral cats and their impact on small game in the area
2. The predator issue as it pertains to both cattle and big game in the area.  They wanted to know what DFG intended to do about the problem or if they intended any action at all. DFG has planned no action.
3. The effect of the dismantling of the Red Bluff dam on the salmon fishing season. They need to count a predetermined number of salmon passing the fish ladder on the dam prior to opening the season. With the gates open all of the time the fish do not use the ladder and they are trying to find some alternate way of counting fish.
4. The state is considering closing the Tehama Co. Game Preserve to save funds and liability problems. The issue is being studied and there has been no decision. The preserve is composed of private lands, BLM lands and lands in conservation easements and Williamson Act tax protections.
5. The youth pheasant hunt will be held again this year, as well as the special youth deer hunt. The deer hunt last year was very popular
6. The Ale and Quail, again this year, was the site of the Shoot for a Purpose competition. This is an excellent event that brings women together to shoot a mix of trap, skeet, and sporting clays. The women are broken into three groups, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The beginner group can get instruction during the shoot. It is very popular and the proceeds go to women's health issues. Winners get buckles and top score a shotgun (pink). This gets women involved in shooting sports which is a good thing for us all.

One of the local archery shops referred an archer and hunter to me to resolve a problem he had with the C zone. He needed someone to go to DFG and resolve his problem I checked with DFG and returned with the answer. It was not the answer he wanted but he thanked me for resolving it.    (11-21-09)
